About

AER was built for organizations that need strong work product without the drag of a large consulting engagement.

We exist for the moments when the assignment is important, the timeline is tight, and the internal team does not have the bandwidth to stop everything and build it from scratch.

Our role is to step in quickly, understand the context, and produce work that helps leaders communicate clearly, move decisions forward, and support their teams with confidence.

Owner & Principal Consultant

AER is led by Dr. Adrienne Read, Owner and Principal Consultant, a strategic operations professional with more than a decade of experience supporting complex, high-visibility work across government, defense, and mission-driven environments. Her background spans program and project support, executive and stakeholder briefings, acquisition and procurement, operational analysis, workforce tools, process improvement, and the development of decision-ready products for leadership audiences. It also includes significant experience in training modernization, systems development, simulation support, curriculum design, and readiness-focused initiatives that strengthened operational performance in defense environments. Across her career, she has worked in roles requiring rapid problem-framing, clear communication, disciplined execution, and the ability to turn ambiguity into structured, actionable outputs.

Before launching AER, Adrienne served in senior federal and contractor roles where she supported executive leadership, managed acquisition and budget-related work, developed resource justifications, led process improvement efforts, drafted statements of work and partnership documents, supported competitive evaluations, and built operational tools that improved visibility, speed, and coordination. Her experience includes leading regionally managed acquisition activities, supporting contract vehicles valued in the millions, building workflow and reporting solutions, guiding change-management and survey efforts, and developing planning and briefing materials used to support leadership decisions.

Her professional foundation also reflects both military service and post-military work dedicated to strengthening the force. During her military service, she served in leadership roles that required accountability, coordination, and mission focus under demanding conditions. After leaving active service, she continued supporting the Department of Defense through contractor and civil service roles with the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy, contributing to major training, readiness, and force-development efforts. hat work included systems development, simulations, curriculum design, training analysis, technical documentation, and readiness-focused program support, adding a substantial training and workforce-development dimension to the operational and strategic expertise she now brings to clients through AER.

That practical experience is strengthened by an academic foundation that directly supports the way she works. Adrienne holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, a Master of Public Administration, and a Master of Arts in Applied Learning and Instruction. Together, those disciplines reinforce the core of AER’s model: understanding how organizations function, how people respond to structure and change, how leaders make decisions, and how complex information can be translated into clear, usable products. Her graduate record also reflects concentrated study in public budgeting, public finance management, strategic planning, program evaluation, research, statistics, learning, motivation, and performance, areas that map directly to the analytical, operational, and workforce-support services AER provides.

As the managing member of AER, Adrienne maintains full responsibility for the day-to-day management and operational control of the business. She oversees business strategy, client engagement, contract execution, pricing, financial management, compliance, and quality control, while also personally performing the firm’s core consulting work. From first conversation through final delivery, she manages each engagement end to end, clarifying needs, defining deliverables, establishing timelines, producing work products, and ensuring that every output is structured, accurate, and ready for real-world use.

What sets Adrienne apart is the combination of operational judgment, training and workforce insight, analytical depth, and business ownership. She does not simply contribute to projects; she runs the company, stewards client relationships, manages compliance and financial operations, and remains directly accountable for the quality and responsiveness of every engagement. That gives clients a single, trusted point of contact with the experience to understand complex environments quickly, the discipline to manage sensitive and time-critical work effectively, and the expertise to deliver products that meet both strategic needs and professional standards.

How We Work

AER is intentionally built around focused, high-value support.

We listen first.
We identify the real need quickly.
We produce work that can be used, not just admired.
And we do it without creating unnecessary complexity around the engagement itself.

This is not template-driven consulting.
AER is a strategic surge partner for teams that need important work done well, under real deadlines, and with minimal hand-holding.
